Hello Bloggers, Hows your day been? At school we are going to have an art show where all classes will create their own special pieces of art and present their art, all the classes have been working really hard on their art. In my class ( Manukau ) we are using Papier-mâché to create fish sculptures, there is a lot to explain so look below for a google slide with how we made the pastel background and the fish itself! I personally I really enjoyed this activity because I don't really enjoy art but I found doing this craft really fun. Maybe next time I'll be a bit more gentle with my pastel and paint, I think that would make by art even better.  I hope you enjoyed reading my blog post, I really appreciate you stopping by. Anyways, we have been working on measurement and we read a maths book and the task was to create a school by measuring the length and width and then record them in our chromebooks, we also made a giant table with all the buildings and the names of the buildings. Hello Bloggers! A few days ago, the senior syndicate went on a trip to Tiritiri Matangi Island. We left school at 7:50 am and set of on a bus to the Downtown Ferry Terminal, and then set of on the ferry, we went to the Gulf Harbour and then straight to Tiritiri. Before we left I was put it Ewans group, ( Oscar's father). When we reached Tiritiri we were greeted by a kind Island Volunteer, and we head of in groups (with Tour Guides) and we went to look at different species, the most common bird was the Piwakawaka (Fantail Bird), they were very small and happy birds, (they also follow humans for the insect on shoes on food crumbs they leave behind) and we saw a large variety of other birds like Kakariki, Kereru, Kokako, Tuis, and Tiene (Saddleback Birds). Also unfortunately (but fortunately for me) we didn't see any Wetapunga. (Weta) We also saw a Takahe. Hey Bloggers, Hope you are having a magical day! Our WALT was to combine prior knowledge with what we've learnt, in this, case using my knowledge about floods and house and then adding with what the text has said. In my reading group, we read about tsunamis hitting Samoa, and we talked about what makes a Tsunami-Proof home. I used Tinkercad  to make a village that could withstand a Tsunami, here it is! (Also check out the text 'Building For The Future' below) Here is a big vault on stands to withstand a Tsunami. Metal sheets are screwed onto the the base plate. If high amounts of water come, the stand will help the vault. Inside the vault, there is lots of citizens' houses, and a food market and water tap because they are need to survive. Hello Bloggers, In class we had the wonderful Mr Ross (old school teacher) come back and teach us for a few days. For maths we were doing measurement and estimation, so we created a google drawing (look below) and made a table with our guess, the actual distance and the difference, we were estimating on the distance of paper planes we have made, look below for some pictures! Helloooo Bloggers! Hows 2018 been so far? Anyways, I'm here to show you some of my work on The Treaty Of Waitangi, Which we did in our reading groups. A picture of the book. If you didn't know, The Treaty Of Waitangi is an agreement between the Maori and the British to share the land. We learnt a lot about the treaty, for example, the translation of the treaty was not very good and when the Maori misunderstood and the British were breaking their own rules, wars began.  We read a book called The House That Jack Built and the book was about Waitangi. Hello Everyone, In class we made a google slide about a journey around NZ on a budget. First we estimated the budget of the trip, then we had to sort out our flight from Auckland to Dunedin. We also had to decide what vehicle we want to use for the trip I chose a large camper van because I could save money for more fun activities. Now we had sorted out our vehicle and flight we had to find out where we were going to stay. If you had chosen the camper van you could get a hotel for motor homes which is cheaper. When we arrived after the flight we had to work out our petrol costs. That was quite hard because we had to work out how many kilometres and how much money does it cost for all those kilometres. Overall I really enjoyed this activity because it was fun calculating the costs. Here is the slide showing my NZ journey. Check it out!
