My Favourite Part Of The Year - 2017

Hello Everyone, Today I am going to tell you about my favourite part of the year.  My favourite of the year was... Camp! Waikowhai Primary's school camp was at Mt Ruapehu. I really enjoyed the camp because it was a chance to get out of my comfort zone and try something I had never done before. The school camp as really fun because we got to have fun skiing with our friends and we also got to do other fun things like have a games night. Some small things went wrong like losing gear but that didn't matter, the whole point of camp is to learn about confidence and perseverance. It took a long time to get there but it was worth it in the end! I can remember myself struggling to ski and I got really annoyed, but I didn't give up and in the end I was skiing properly! Mt Ruapehu is close to my home town, Taupo. That is amazing that you kept on trying and finally conquered the art of skiing. Congratulations!

Descriptive Language About A Place, Can You Guess The Place?

T his week we are working on using descriptive language by sharing our writing straight onto our blog.  The challenge we have is to describe a place using only six sentences. After reading the description you need to guess the place that has been described. It would really help if you say what clues helped you come to this conclusion. 1. Lots of people clicking away. 2. People trying new functions spamming buttons. 3. A rapid clicking sound can be heard when in this place. 4. People discovering new things . 5. People asking for more time with their special thing. 6. Tsunami Proof Village With Tinkercad!

Hey Bloggers, Hope you are having a magical day! Our WALT was to combine prior knowledge with what we've learnt, in this, case using my knowledge about floods and house and then adding with what the text has said. In my reading group, we read about tsunamis hitting Samoa, and we talked about what makes a Tsunami-Proof home. I used Tinkercad  to make a village that could withstand a Tsunami, here it is! (Also check out the text 'Building For The Future' below) Here is a big vault on stands to withstand a Tsunami. Metal sheets are screwed onto the the base plate. If high amounts of water come, the stand will help the vault. Inside the vault, there is lots of citizens' houses, and a food market and water tap because they are need to survive.
